Awards with a difference
Being an award-winning celebrant is a big deal. Not only is it a wonderful way for you to be recognised for all of your passion, hard-work and commitment to celebrancy, but it is also an excellent accolade to use when promoting and marketing yourself.
We have thought long and hard about the best ways of assessing the skills of a Celebrant. It is no easy feat. How can you really capture the essence of what a Celebrant does, bottle it and then turn it into something tangible that can be fairly assessed? It really isn’t easy! But we are determined to create a fair awards process that can accurately assess the best of what Celebrants have to offer.
So we’ve decided to make our awards, largely script-writing awards, as we believe there is much that we can assess and review from reading beautifully crafted and well-written scripts. Whilst we will be the first to admit that script-writing alone is not a measure of how great a celebrant is, we feel that it is a fair way of judging a crucial element of celebrancy.
How will it work?
There are four script-writing award categories and two Celebrant of the Year categories, one for newcomers and one for those with a few more years under their belt, as explained below. All coming together to make a wonderful testament to the couple involved.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Best Wedding Script” custom_font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left|color:%2308708a” custom_use_theme_fonts=”yes” use_custom_heading=”true”]This award will be given to the Celebrant who has written an emotive script, which manages to illustrate the couple’s personality and some light-hearted, fun moments, as well as shades of love and commitment. All coming together to make a wonderful testament to the couple involved.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Best baby-naming Script” custom_font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left|color:%2308708a” custom_use_theme_fonts=”yes” use_custom_heading=”true”]This award will be given to the Celebrant who has written a beautifully emotive script, which manages to combine the beauty of the special relationship that a child has with his or her parents, and draws on the joy, love and happiness that this child has brought into the family and to others lives. A loving testament to the child or children involved, whilst marking a special family occasion.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Best Funeral Script” custom_font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left|color:%2308708a” custom_use_theme_fonts=”yes” use_custom_heading=”true”]This award will be given to the Celebrant who has written a wonderful narrative script, which manages to leave the reader with a great understanding and appreciation of the person whose life is being celebrated. A script which skilfully balances many varying emotions together but ultimately gives a sense of peace, tranquility, comfort and is of an uplifting nature.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Script of the Year” custom_font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left|color:%2308708a” custom_use_theme_fonts=”yes” use_custom_heading=”true”]In this ‘whatever goes’ category, we will be looking forward to receiving scripts of any genre, written by Celebrants with all levels of experience. We will be on the look out for incredibly well-written scripts, where words bring the emotions to life and one gets a sense of what it must have felt like to have had this script delivered in person. We are looking for a uniquely original script, which has a strong style and flair, where sentences flow with ease and where a visual picture is easily conjured.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Celebrant Newcomer of the Year” custom_font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left|color:%2308708a” custom_use_theme_fonts=”yes” use_custom_heading=”true”]This award category will be open to Celebrants who have been practising for two years or less. We’re still finalising the entry process for this category but we do plan on making it as thorough and robust as possible. Details to follow shortly, when the awards officially open.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Celebrant of the Year” custom_font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left|color:%2308708a” custom_use_theme_fonts=”yes” use_custom_heading=”true”]This award category will be open to Celebrants who have been practising for two years or more. We’re still finalising the entry process for this category but we do plan on making it as thorough and robust as possible. Details to follow shortly, when the awards officially open.[/vc_toggle][vc_column_text 0=””]Each member is free to enter themselves in any number of categories (where applicable) and all the script-writing awards will be judged on a blind basis, ie the judges will not know the identity of the celebrant who has written the script and any information regarding the identity of the celebrant and the people who the script have been written for, will be removed. The scripts will be judged by judges who are independent of the Celebrants Collective.
Celebrants will also be able to submit a short report to accompany the script which they are submitting, in order to provide some background and context to the script.
Once the entries have been submitted and assessed the shortlist of award nominees will be announced. The winners and highly commended runner up of each category, will be announced at the awards ceremony, which will take place on day two of the retreat convention, more details about it, here. Whilst the retreat convention is open to be attended by members and non-members alike, the awards can only be entered by Celebrants Collective members.
